Columbia's campus is arguably one of the most beautiful college campuses. Some of the world's greatest architects have designed the buildings that we eat, sleep, or study in. However, sometimes the most famous buildings here are the most hated, the most badly engineered, the most poorly functioning ones. In this column, I am going to explore the architecture of the campus from engineering, aesthetic, political, and functional points of view. I will discuss different aspects of Columbia's campus and how they shape our activity and the life of the surrounding neighborhoods.
